Who's Moving Where In Wealth Management? – SEI, Raymond James, EP Wealth

SEI, the Nasdaq-listed group which provides investment processing and management, and investment operations solutions, has appointed former BlackRock senior figure Robert Hum as head of investment product development and activation. 

Hum reports to Michael Lane, head of SEI’s asset management business. In this new role, Hum will lead the development and execution strategy for investment products and models, with an emphasis on enhancing portfolio outcomes across existing client segments and new markets. 

Bringing 15 years of industry experience, Hum most recently served as managing director and US head of factor, outcome and alternative ETFs at BlackRock. Prior to joining BlackRock, he was a senior research analyst and portfolio manager at Ladenburg Thalmann, managing more than $2 billion in global, multi-asset mutual fund and model portfolios. He began his career as an associate at VanEck Global.

To support this new team, Heather Corkery has moved from her role as MD of client service in SEI’s Institutional business to director of investment product development and activation, reporting to Hum. Corkery has more than 20 years’ experience at SEI.

Earlier in July, SEI made a “strategic” investment in Stratos Wealth Holdings.

Family Wealth Report recently spoke to Ryan Hicke, CEO, and Michael Lane, head of asset management and executive vice president, about the rationale for the deal and where SEI is headed in the wealth management sector. SEI also recently reported its latest quarterly results.

Raymond James
Raymond James has brought in five financial advisors in Depew, New York to the firm’s independent advisor channel. 

As Buffalo Financial, the team comprises advisors Jeremy Beck, Matthew Pitrola, Jacob Wood, Tyler Sacco and Matt Wojick, supported by business coordinator Trish Del Prince, administrative assistant Dawn Esslinger, marketing consultant Haley Travers and client service and research assistant Gavin Beck. 

The team has joined from Commonwealth Financial Network where it managed about $207 million in client assets. Services include investment management as well as financial, insurance, and business planning.

EP Wealth
EP Wealth Advisors has appointed Justin Mikhalevsky as chief product and technology officer. Mikhalevsky has experience across RIA platforms, analytics, AI and enterprise systems.

In his newly-created role, Mikhalevsky will oversee integration of product strategy, enterprise technology and data platforms – creating a unified engine to simplify, scale and enhance the digital experiences that serve EP Wealth’s clients, advisors and employees, the firm said. 

Mikhalevsky previously served as head of analytics, AI and business systems at Kestra, where he led enterprise-wide initiatives to modernize data infrastructure, deploy intelligent automation and drive business outcomes across financial services teams. 

EP Wealth, which is led by Ken LeBlanc and Alan Berkshire , has completed a migration to Salesforce and executed a series of technology initiatives.

EP Wealth is financially backed by Berkshire Partners, a private investment firm based in Boston. Headquartered in Torrance, California, EP Wealth’s leaders include Parker, along with co-founders and managing directors Derek Holman, Brian Parker, and executive chair Patrick Goshtigian.
